Volunteer Opportunities
Church Grounds – We need additional mowers added to the team. We have the equipment. Contact: Holly Bogatay, Office Administrator.
Children’s Ministry – As our program is growing, volunteers are needed for Sunday morning programs (10a Classes and 9a/11a Children’s Church) as well as Wednesday night at 6:30p. Contact: Nichole Hall, Children’s Minister.
Kitchen Crew – Chef Kathy Mossburg welcomes volunteers for setup, cooking, and cleanup. Contact: Holly Bogatay
Nursery – As the Nursery is growing, we have the need for additional volunteers on Sunday mornings at 9am. Your commitment would be just 1 time per month. Contact: Connie Klements, Nursery Director, for more information.
 
Church-wide Study: A Disciple’s Path
During Lent, our church will focus on discipleship. Our church-wide study – A Disciple’s Path – begins Sunday, March 10.  Personal readings in the Daily Workbook begin March 3. All information can be found here:               
Wednesday Night Dinner
March 27: Ground Beef/Tater tot/Cheese Casserole, Salad, and Bread.  Dessert: Brownies and Ice Cream. 
 
Mom’s Time Out
Our six week course will follow Karen Stubbs’ study, The Six Truths of Motherhood. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall from 9:15-10:30. There is no cost to attend the study and materials will be provided. Childcare is available in Room E4/E6 for $5/child.

Sonshiners – Bingo and Lunch

Brunch and Build

Easter Egg Hunt
April 21, 10am: Please help us prepare by picking up a bag of eggs in the Gathering Area and returning them stuffed with a small toy or piece of candy.  Stuffed eggs need to be returned by April 14. Contact: Nichole Hall
 
Vacation Bible School – Volunteer Now!

*VBS Registration opens to the church on April 1 and to the community on April 15.
 
Adult Sunday Class – Maturing In Christ
Started February 3, 10am (Fellowship Hall): This class is for adults who are new to the church or ones who are looking to connect more fully with the church through Bible study, friends, activities and passions.
Whether you are new to HFUMC or a long time member who hasn’t quite found your connection point, this 8 week class is for you.
Along with a Bible study on Maturing in Your Faith, we will discuss the following:
-What Methodist believe
-History of HFUMC
-Discovering your passion
-Discovering your Spiritual gifts
-Becoming disciples
-Finding your connection point

Hasty Elementary School – Reading Tutor
Reading Buddies for Hasty Elementary – Hasty Elementary is in need of Reading Buddies tutors in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades Monday to Friday. Volunteers are asked to tutor for 30 minutes each session. You can do it once a week or more. Time slots start at 7:30 am and go to 9:45 in the morning and again at noon and continue until 1:30 pm. Interested volunteers must fill out a 2018 Cherokee County Volunteer application and attend a Reading Buddies training session at Hasty. Interested people can contact Mary Ann Laughlin at 404-786-1937. The schedule is posted along with a volunteer application on the Mission bulletin board near the ladies room.
 
Adult Discipleship Opportunity (Grow)
Disciple III (Remember Who You Are):
Remember Who You Are is a 32 week study of the Old Testament Prophets and Paul’s Epistles (Letters to the early Church). This will be a Sunday evening (During Wednesday Night Dinner) session with study commencing Aug 19th and completing by May 19th with breaks for holidays, fall & spring breaks, Easter, Mothers day and etc. There is a desired prerequisite of having completed Disciple I (Full or Fast-Track), if you’ve not and are interested please let us know. Cost is $39.00 per student (scholarships are available). Contact Mark McDougald for details, signup or questions.
 

Downtown Atlanta Homeless Ministry

Our Homeless Ministry visits Atlanta once a month to share the love of Christ with our homeless neighbors. We pray with many that we meet and offer kindness and care (food, hygiene kits) to people who are often ignored or unseen. How can you participate? Donate food or other items. Help with meal preparations or travel to Atlanta with the team.

Sunlight of the Spirit Alcoholics Anonymous

Meetings are held each Friday, 7pm, in Trailer D3. For more information, contact Mike, 770.653.3999.

AL-ANON

Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship that offers a program of recovery for the families and friends of alcoholics, whether or not the alcoholic recognizes the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help. Alcoholism is a family disease. The program is anonymous and protects the identity of the participants. The group will meet on Friday nights at 7pm in Trailer D4. For questions, call 678.468.6150.

GED Classes

Hickory Flat Church offers free GED classes to anyone 18 years and older. Classes meet on Monday and Thursday evenings, 6-9pm. For additional details, visit our GED page or contact Ronnie Holbert.
