Mexico
In 2004, we were one of several churches to help build a community center in an impoverished neighborhood in Apodaca, MX. By the grace of God, that facility, Pan de Vida (Bread of Life), became a beacon of hope for local residents under the guidance of Pastor Gonzalo Guardiola. Over the years, both the ministry and the building have expanded, and most importantly, people have come to know the love and joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ!
By sending missionaries to Pan de Vida for several years and communicating regularly with Pastor Gonzalo, a strong and lasting bond was formed between Hickory Flat Church and the Pan de Vida congregation.
Despite the many challenges in Mexico in recent years, Pan de Vida continues to serve the community and even reaches out to other areas. A feeding program, weekly worship services, Bible studies, the Mustard Seed program (for children), and much more are vital components of this ministry.
To fulfill Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples”, members of Pan de Vida have begun traveling to a neighboring town, Marin, to develop relationships and share the Good News with that community. They rejoice in the gift of God’s grace in their lives and are eager to share it with others.
Today, Hickory Flat Church continues to support Pastor Gonzalo and his family and the ministry of Pan de Vida. We look forward to traveling to Mexico again soon and serving the Lord alongside our brothers and sisters.
