Hometown Mission Day

Watch for details on the next Hometown Mission Day in 2018.

Give a Kid a Chance

Hickory Flat Church participates in this county-wide effort to equip children in need for going back to school.
Services offered to GAKAC guests include vision, hearing, dental and chiropractic screenings, and haircuts. Each family can shop from a collection of like-new clothing, and enjoy a fresh meal. All events and supplies are provided at no charge for the registered students and immediate family. A voucher must be presented to receive a backpack and school supplies.

M.U.S.T. Summer Lunch Event

Every summer, MUST Ministries provides lunch for thousands of children who would normally get free or reduced lunches during the school year.
Hickory Flat supports their effort through our Feed Cherokee Children event in June or July.
2018 Feed Cherokee Children – Sunday, June 10, 10-11am
  • Get involved now – Donate juice boxes, individual packs of chips, & cookies (we need enough for 2500 lunches!)
  • Contact – Mary Ann Laughlin

Thanksgiving – Feed My Lambs

Feed My Lambs (Meals on Wheels & other neighbors) – Many people in the county depend on this service which does not operate on Thanksgiving.
Volunteers can sign up to make stuffing and other fixins’ for a holiday meal. More volunteers then come together on Thanksgiving morning to box and deliver meals (about 500!) to families throughout the community.

Angel Tree

Our Angel Tree usually goes up the Sunday before Thanksgiving (to accommodate all the Black Friday shoppers!). Angels are from local schools and other partner ministries.  Participation is easy: stop by the tree, adopt an angel, and shop for Christmas gifts and some basic necessities.  In addition to items for children, we often like to provide cleaning supplies or other basic necessities for each family.
