What We Believe:

(Excerpts from the United Methodist Book of Discipline, 2004)

We believe in the one true, holy and living God. He is infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness and love, and reveals himself as the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who comes from the Father and the Son and is one in being with them. He comforts, sustains, and empowers the faithful and guides them into all truth.

We believe that the Holy Bible, Old and New Testaments, reveals the Word of God.

We believe the Christian Church is the community of all true believers under Jesus Christ. We believe it is one, holy apostolic (based on Jesus’ apostles’ teachings), and catholic (universal).

We believe that the Sacrament of Baptism signifies entrance into the household of faith and is a symbol of repentance and inner cleansing from sin, a representation of the new birth in Jesus Christ. We believe in baptism of children of believers. Children should then be nurtured and led to a personal acceptance of Christ. You must be baptized to become a full, professing member of the church. We recognize and accept baptisms of other Christian denominations.

We believe that the Sacrament of Holy Communion is a representation of our redemption, a memorial of the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ, and a sign of the love and union Christians have with Christ and with one another.
