Homeless Ministry

Dear Church,

During these changing times, there has been a small group gathering every 2nd Saturday for the last three months to prepare and go downtown to be ‘the presence’ of Jesus in downtown Atlanta. We have taken hot-dogs, chips, bananas, socks and other hygiene items, but, most importantly – the Love of Jesus.

I say changing times because of the Covid outbreak and the social unrest. At least for so many, Covid has changed our lives. Who can work, who cannot; who can you see and who you cannot see, where you can go and where you cannot go, what you can do and what you cannot do. For two [2] months we stopped going downtown to feed and Love on the Homeless, but then nudged by the Holy Spirit, we began again. You see, for the homeless, Covid has not changed their lives, Social unrest has not changed their lives. They are still homeless, still hungry, still broken.

When we returned, it was much like a Homecoming – the smiles, the ‘where have you been?’, yes, even the hugs were priceless. Seeing the Glory of God work on the hearts of Homeless and our own hearts is priceless.

Thanks to all who support the Homeless Ministry and for your prayers.

We now have some needs – if anyone is holding onto those hygiene items that you have gathered while traveling, we are in need of – soap, shampoo and toothbrushes. Think individual sizes. There will be a Red Bin marked ‘Homeless’ under the Picnic Covering at the back playground, by the Missions Building where you can place these items.

If you have any questions or would like to learn how you can help, please contact me.

Below is a list of prayer request from our last visits.

Thanks and God Bless,
